Carpet Bowls
The carpet bowls section was the original sport played by the now East Bergholt Bowls Club therefore we continue and honour the sport to this day. This section provides for all ages and abilities a very social however quietly competitive sport that does compliment the diversity of the club’s activities, so when outside green bowling ends in late September if members wish to partake in this inside activity during the winter months, then we can promise it will be fun and satisfying although sometimes frustrating but that’s all the challenge of this sport. Carpet bowls is played in the Constable Hall, just off the car park. From October to the end of March every Monday evening members are able to play each other in what is termed a "Roll Up". It is a very social meeting with hot drinks and biscuits halfway through the evening. Members start arriving at about 19:15 when they then set out up to three carpets. The bowls are provided by the club so all you bring is some comfortable shoes, usually trainers. Coaching will be provided and encouragement is offered by all, to all. Throughout the winter the club also plays in a local league and individual competitions between clubs. Members are also encouraged to take part in internal competitions.
Why not give it a try just contact us via the links in this website and we will be in touch, you will be more than welcome.
Or if you would like to have a go then just turn up at 19:15 any Monday, keep an eye on the calendar just to check the hall is being used for bowls roll ups.
